The 1973 You'll Die Laughing Creature Feature Trading Card set features classic Universal movie monsters on the front with a
funny caption and a joke card on the back (not shown). The black and white 128 card set is from Topps who came out with a You'll Die Laughing set (66 cards) in
1959 (also known as Funny Monsters) featuring generic monsters as well as altered classic horror & sci-fi movie monsters with illustrations by celebrated artist Jack Davis but in color.
The 1958 set was credited as being produced by "Bubbles, Inc." During this period, when Topps felt uneasy about putting their own name on a particular card set,
they'd credit "Bubbles, Inc." on the product to distance the Topps brand name from any anticipated controversy. Topps also produced a You'll Die Laughing set in 1980
similar to the 1973 set (88 cards) that featured black and white photos with color borders. |
